Computing of sound insulation of a panel

The finite element analysis can simulate the vibro-acoustic behavior of a panel. It is therefore possible to evaluate the airborne sound insulation according to the norm at an early stage of development through virtual prototyping.
In this example, the panel divides two reverberant chambers. In one of the two chambers is introduced a source of acoustic power. Therefore, the acoustic pressures on both sides of the panel are measured to evaluate the airborne sound insulation.

The color map indicates the intensity of the sound pressure generated within the two chambers. The source is located in the left chamber.
